Windows XP SP3 launch delayed
April 30th, 2008 | by rey |
A lot of Windows users were holding their breath for the availability of Windows XP Service Pack 3 which was supposed to be out today April 29. However sources within Microsoft have confirmed that the launch will be delayed due to a compatibility issue between Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS) and XP SP3.
In fact this issue does not only involve XP SP3 but also Vista SP1. So anyone who has Vista SP1 installed will also run into this compatibility issue.
According to Chris Keroack Release Manager for Windows Serviceability, Microsoft is currently testing a fix, and will make it available once that process is complete. “Once they have installed the fix, Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers should be able to run both service packs.” Until then, Microsoft Dynamics RMS customers are advised not to install either service pack.
Windows XP SP3 was supposed to be made available to the public for download from the Windows Update site or Microsoft Download Center today. A version of the service pack has been and continues to be available to MSDN and Technet subscribers though.
