Watch the unboxing of an Eee PC 1000

These things (netbooks/mini-notebooks) are literally flying off of the drawing boards and onto the store shelves. Just a few days after the launch at Computex and we have an unboxing video of a brand new black Eee PC 1000. It has an Intel 1.6GHz Atom CPU, standard 1GB RAM, an 80GB HDD with Windows XP SP3, and a keyboard which is 92% of full-sized ones you can find on regular laptops.

I would have preferred a matte black shell instead of the glossy one this Eee PC comes in. And at $620+ it’s moving into the territory of full-sized laptops with more capable hardware like a built-in DVD-Writer which the Eee series doesn’t and will probably never have.

You interested in getting one? I’m having second thoughts. Why don’t I just pay a little extra and get like say an Acer Aspire 4520?

Honestly, I’m not a mini-notebook fan. IMO, go for Acer instead of this. But that’s just my take, of course. ;)

I say pay extra and get the Acer. I’m a loyal Toshiba fan though. ;)

I think mini-notebook is cool when traveling but otherwise…

I like the small PCs for its weight. But if it gets heavy, I agree might as well get a full fledged PC.

Btw there is the high end mini sized VAIO too ya :)

A consensus is building here! These bite-sized doodads are probably more fragile too.
