Nokia touts it as a “true mobile computer”. Launched Dec 7, 2008 after months of keeping the mobile phone-loving world in the dark, Nokia has revealed the N97 which they call the world’s most advanced mobile computer.

“From the desktop to the laptop and now to your pocket, the Nokia N97 is the most powerful, multi-sensory mobile computer in existence,” said Jonas Geust, Vice President, heading Nokia Nseries. “Together with the Ovi services announced today, the Nokia N97 mobile computer adjusts to the world around us, helping stay connected to the people and things that matter most. With the Nokia N97, Nseries leads the charge in helping to transform the Internet into your Internet”.

Notable features of this N-series flagship phone due out in the second quarter of 2009:

  • 3.5″ Touch screen capable of displaying 16 million colors
  • Full QWERTY slide-out keyboard
  • Accelerometer to help auto-rotate the display depending on how the phone is oriented
  • 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth v2.0 w/ A2DP, Quad-band GSM connectivity
  • 32GB internal memory with microSD slot allowing an additional 16GB and above as higher capacity microSDs come out
  • 5MP camera with autofocus and flash, capable of video recording at 640×480 (30fps), secondary video-call camera that can act as a webcam
