This is one gadget that has every geek drooling in anticipation for its release. The Palm Pre with the linux-based webOS, which is light years ahead in terms of usability compared to Palm’s previous venture into Operating systems namely the PalmOS, will be out in the first half of 2009. It will initially be available as a CDMA phone running on the Sprint network but rest assured a  GSM version will come out not long after so the rest of the world can actually use it.

Why are geeks drooling in anticipation you ask? Well, aside from the 3.1″ touchscreen, it has a full, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a host of connectivity features including WiFi, 3G and EVDO, 8 gigabytes of internal storage and a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash. The user interface is as intuitive as Apple’s iPhone plus it can actually do “cut and paste”. Want to charge the phone without wires? You can with its Touchstone wireless charging dock. What’s not to like?

Watch the demo below and don’t forget to wipe off the drool…

I’d still prefer Black Berry over this.
